RESPONSIBILITY & PARTNERSHIP

We envision a future in which fashion is defined by quality, responsibility, and authenticity.

Luisa Cerano was founded in 1998 and is part of the Hauber Group, a fifth-generation family-run textile company with a history dating back to 1870. As an internationally active fashion house, Luisa Cerano stands for timeless design and artisanal craftsmanship.

As a family-run business, we take a long-term view and prioritize reliable partnerships with our teams, suppliers, and local communities.

We take responsibility into account in decisions regarding our products, sourcing, animal welfare, and our supply chain.

OUR HEADQUARTERS

The creative journey begins at our headquarters in Nürtingen, Germany, where our design team develops the initial ideas and sketches for each collection. Even today, many of our departments are centralized here: Design, Atelier, Operations, Sales, and Logistics are all located under one roof.

The ongoing maintenance and further development of our headquarters are therefore an integral part of our long-term building strategy. Over the years, we have implemented various measures to modernize and upgrade the building and its technical infrastructure. These include:

1. Improvements to the thermal insulation of the building envelope, including insulating glazing and facade upgrades.

2. Installation of photovoltaic systems, which covered 20% of the electricity consumption at our headquarters in Nürtingen by 2025.

3. Replacement of the building’s mechanical and electrical systems and building automation systems

4. Retrofitting the ventilation system,
installing a combined heat and power plant, and adding a heat recovery system.

5. Conversion of the lighting systems to LED.

Even beyond our headquarters, we examine the design, procurement, and manufacturing of our products throughout the value chain and explore new approaches and partnerships.

"JUST FASHION" PROJECT

Luisa Cerano is part of the Just Fashion project, a Horizon Europe-funded initiative (2024–2027) that supports small and medium-sized fashion companies in transitioning to lower-carbon, circular, and more socially inclusive business models.

As one of six pilot companies in the project, Luisa Cerano is examining procurement and production processes with a focus on eco-design. Among other things, the project considers material choices, transparency, and due diligence processes. The insights gained will be incorporated into guidelines for future design and material decisions, particularly with regard to reparability and product lifespan.

CERTIFICATIONS

Luisa Cerano is certified under the RDS standard. Certification is provided by Control Union under license number CU 1448562. Only products bearing the RDS label and the corresponding claim are certified.

The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certifies down and feathers according to animal welfare requirements and ensures their traceability from the farm to the final product.

ANIMAL WELFARE

Animal welfare is an important part of responsible sourcing. When we use materials of animal origin, we source them with due care and work with partners who share our expectations regarding animal welfare, traceability, and responsible practices.

Our policy sets out the principles governing materials of animal origin in our products, as well as our expectations of suppliers and business partners. It applies, where relevant, to materials such as wool, leather, down, feathers, silk, and other animal-derived materials.

ABOUT THE GUIDELINE

HANDLING CHEMICALS

Our requirements are based on applicable legal regulations and are supplemented by our internal Restricted Substances List (RSL). The RSL lists substances whose use in our products is restricted or subject to specific limits, and serves as a practical guide for our suppliers and internal teams. We expect our suppliers to comply with our chemical-related requirements and, when necessary, to provide relevant information or documentation.

We regularly review our requirements, taking into account regulatory developments, new scientific findings, and changes within our supply chain.

SUPPLY CHAIN

Our supply chain is characterized by close, long-term relationships with many of our suppliers, which have grown over years of collaboration, dialogue, and mutual trust.

Even though production no longer takes place at our headquarters in Nürtingen, we remain closely involved in material selection and production processes and work in close coordination with our partners during the development of our collections.

A large portion of our production takes place in Europe, particularly in Romania and North Macedonia, while many of our key material suppliers are based in Italy, Spain, and Germany. However, our supply chain remains diverse and international.

Code
of Conduct We require our suppliers to sign our Code of Conduct and expect them to comply with the requirements set forth therein. The Code outlines our expectations in areas such as human rights, equal treatment and non-discrimination, freedom of association, occupational health and safety, compensation requirements, product safety, and anti-corruption.

HUMAN RIGHTS

Luisa Cerano views respect for human rights as an important responsibility. Our Human Rights Policy sets forth the principles we apply in our own operations, as well as the expectations we communicate to our business partners.
